All Strings
Attached --- Cross media advertising | Email or eNewsletters?
Spring Greetings,
In the event that some of you didn't hear, I AM Presentations
was
recently featured by the State of Vermont's Economic Department
as a
one-stop shop for interactive services. You can still view
the
article here at http://www.thinkvermont.com.
A couple of interesting topics to tackle in this issue---Email
vs.
eNewsletters and Cross Media Advertising. These two subjects
are
extremely important during this down turn in the economy
as these
both enable companies to cut costs and increase efficiency
with
minimal risk.
EMAIL vs. eNEWSLETTERS, WHICH ONE WINS YOUR VOTE?
Many the times business managers often wonder what route
to
take...email campaigning or eNewsletters? When faced with
this
Internet Marketing question, we undoubtedly say "both".
The
important thing to remember here is the difference between
the uses
of both.
--eNewsletters should mainly provide information and drive
traffic
back to your site for resources
--emails are quick attention getters and can focus specifically
on
products or services offered, with the intention of a sale
soon
Creating a sales/promotions eFlyer list and an informational
eNewsletter list will produce a variety of results. First,
I'm
positive you will notice that many of the members on one
list are on
the other. Second, the sales eNewsletter will require more
craft in
attention but may not receive equal attention from the recipient.
Therefore, email campaigns require several phases of different
styled emails about the same service/product. The reason
being is
many people will discard 3 or 4 of the emails before reading
them.
However, it is important to not just send the same email
flyer ten
times, as customers will likely become very agitated and
may opt out
of any listing you have. The best results are usually a 5
flyer
campaign, adjusted over a particular span of days depending
on the
product or service.
The eNewsletter generates a different result, one with a
much more
dedicated, researched customer base. These are the people
that will
take the time to study what they are interested in about
your
product/service. Information is vital for their confidence
to buy.
Likewise, information about your company conveyed through
some sort
of news or educational eNewsletter to keep them up-to-date
will
increase their confidence in doing business with you. The
difficulty with an eNewsletter is knowing just how much information
to reveal without overloading your customer.

CROSS MEDIA ADVERTISING---ALL STRINGS ATTACHED
Television, radio, newspapers, internet... Where do these
avenues
of communication end? They don't! They are forever weaving
an
intricately designed web within and amongst each other. This
is the
reason why it is absolutely necessary for businesses to coordinate
their marketing and advertising efforts with precision. By
leveraging your marketing interests towards your web presence
through each and every avenue your company currently is traveling,
you combine your advertising clout and brand image.
Think of it similarly to an OIL STICKER. After you get your
oil
changed they place a nice, neat little sticker in the upper
corner
of your windshield. They accomplish quite a bit of branding
with
this small tactic. They provide you with valuable information
(when
your due for your next oil change), make you aware of the
products
you rely on (the brand of oil), and they sell themselves
as the
informer/educator and provider (most stickers have the service
station address and contact info). Tactics like this can't
be
ignored with the different Medias. Every printing should
include
your web address, likewise with TV or radio ads. It's no
different
for you website either. The site should play into those who
found
you by TV, radio, print etc... Working the various Medias
together
insures a collective image that delivers a strong connected
voice.
It is a strong collected voice that will ring through the
clang of
mediocrity now on the web.
